Jennifer Oliveri, co-president
This is Jen’s fourth year serving on the Wading River School PTA board and her second as our Co-President. She previously served as Wading River School PTA Vice President for two years, and was President at Prodell Middle School for two years. She has daughters in 12th and 5th grades and a son in 7th grade. She is a Girl Scout Troop leader as well and enjoys the time she spends helping the girls grow and learn to serve and give back to the SWR community. Professionally she works as a physical therapist and lymphedema therapist. She is excited for the upcoming year and is always happy to hear new ideas and thoughts from the Wading River Elementary community.
Ashley ZOumas, Co-President
Born and raised in Wading River, NY Ashley Zoumas is a proud member of the SWR community. She lives near Fink’s Farm with her husband Nick, their four daughters, two dogs and her mom. Both Nick and Ashley are SWR alumni, and they fel incredibly grateful for the strong network of support and love that surrounds their family.
Ashley and Nicks’s four daughters are currently in the SWR school system: their oldest is 12 and entering 7th grade, followed by their 10 year old headed into 5th grade, their 8 year old starting 3rd, and their youngest who is 6 and entering 1st grade. Being involved in the school community through her children’s experiences has made Ashley even more passionate about giving back.
A stage 3 breast cancer survivor, Ashley in now cancer-free and speak openly about her survivorship journey. She is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting other women who are facing or who have faced breast cancer - especially in navigating life after treatment, which is often overlooked.
This is Ashley’s first year serving as Co-President, and she is excited to take on this new role. She looks forward to finding meaningful ways to contribute and continue to support the SWR community that has meant so much to her and her family.
In addition to her leadership role, Ashley enjoys using her creative talents to give back. She helps draw and paint the back drops for the 5th grade SRO play, one of the many ways she stays connected and engaged. Being part of this community has left a lasting impact on her, and Ashley has always felt a deep calling to help help and serve wherever she can.
Rebecca Carey, Vice-President
This marks Rebecca’s tenth year as a PTA and PTO volunteer and her fourth year serving on the Wading River School PTA Board. She has previously served as the school’s recording secretary and Co-President for two years and is honored to commit to this year as our Vice President. Rebecca welcomes all volunteers with open arms, whether you’ve been a PTA member for years or this is your very first time getting involved. If you’re at en event, chances are you’ll be greeted by Rebecca, and she’s always happy to welcome you and show you the ropes. Becca, as she’s known to those in her circle, is extremely proud to have successfully created and run the first-ever PTA clubs at the school. Karaoke and Ballet Kids was a huge success , and Becca looks forward to running these activities and more for the lucky students of the Wading River School.
Becca lives in Shoreham with her husband four children and two dogs. Her oldest son is entering ninth grade, her twin daughters are entering seventh grade at Prodell Middle School and her youngest will start fifth grade in September.
Becca loves children and can also be found substitute teaching in various classrooms throughout the district. Along with her PTA duties, Becca has a great passion for helping animals in need and works with several rescue groups to foster neglected and abused and often homeless dogs and puppies, as well as cats in their various stages of life. When not volunteering, Rebecca plays “Uber Mommy” shuffling her kids to and from their multiple sports and activities and can be found cheering her heart out on the sidelines.
Becca is tremendously excited for the year ahead and always welcomes ideas, feedback, suggestions and volunteers. 2025/2026 is going to be the best year yet at WRS!
CJ Vanderhyde, TREASURER
Carolyn (CJ) Vanderhyde is excited to serve as this years PTA Treasurer. A proud Wading River native, CJ feels fortunate to now be raising her son in the same wonderful community where she grew up. she has always appreciated the dedication the school and PTA put into creating meaningful and enriching experiences for students.
Over the years, CJ has love volunteering at many school events and being and active part of the community through both work and school activities. As a single mom to a fifth grader, she is no stranger to hard work and the challenges that come with it - and she brings that same strong work ethic to her role on the PTA.
In addition to her role as a mom and PTA member, CJ works professionally and gives back to the community as a Realtor with Coldwell Banker M&D Good Life, located at the East Wind Shops.
CJ is looking forward to contributing even more this year to help keep the magic and fun alive for all the kids.
Nicole Cherouvis, Corresponding Secretary
Nicole is an active and dedicated member of the Shoreham Wading River school community. She previously served as the Recording Secretary for the Miller Avenue PTO board and had volunteered extensively throughout the district, chairing and organizing numerous school events. Now with both of her children attending Wading River School, Nicole continues to deepen her involvement. She currently chairs the Wading River Wildcat Wagon and will proudly continue in that role. In addition to her work with the PTA, she coaches her daughter’s competition cheerleading team, which is affiliated with the district. Nicole is passionate about creating a positive, engaging environment for students and families alike.
Megan Fitzgerald, Recording Secretary
This is Megan’s third year serving on the Wading River School PTA. She would often volunteer for events at Miller Avenue while her son attended. Now that he’s entering 5th grade, she’s very much looking forward to continuing her role as corresponding secretary and volunteering more. Megan, along with her husband, son and toddler daughter have been in the SWR area for 7 years. In those short 7 years, her whole family has made lifelong friends and love this amazing community!
